Rom. 8:28 - "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

Memories

I ate Wendy's fast food for lunch today. While I was getting my fries out of the bag, I also pulled out a packet of salt. I laughed. I know this might seem weird, but it brought back memories of my recent trip to IHOP in Kansas City. On the way back, we stopped at Wendy's for lunch. It was so humid that all of the salt shakers and salt packets in the restaurant were clogged. It just reminded me of that weekend and all of the fun and spiritual impact of the trip. It really was an awesome trip. I am glad to be home with Janie, but I really miss being there and being able to go into the prayer room whenever I want. I can't wait until we have one here.

This Is What I'm Reading Now

This is what I am currently reading. I am not a very good reader, so I will be reading it for a while. it is a collection of prophetic words about Wilderness.

The Wilderness

Here I go again. Try number three. I'm going to try and keep up with it this time. I really feel God drawing me to a more intimate place with him...the "wilderness". For a long time I have thought that a wilderness experience meant that I felt alone and did not necessarily feel God's presence. I thought of it as hard times. I thought of it as periods in our lives that were full of trials and tribulations. You could understand, then, how I felt a couple of weeks ago while I was in Kansas City at IHOP (International House Of Prayer). I had several prophecies over me which told me that I was about to enter a time of wilderness experience. I was nervous to say the least. It was like I had just prayed for patience. I didn't know what to expect. As the weekend went on, I started to understand exactly what the wilderness really is. I always thought of Jesus going through his temptations in the wilderness. Actually, those things did not define his wilderness experience. Matt 4:1, Mark 1:13, and Luke 4:1 all say that He was "led" into the wilderness. He was led there to separate himself from all of the world's distractions. Of course He did not need this, but he was showing us an example. I am realizing that it is not a bad thing to be drawn to the wilderness. This is a calling to be more intimate with God. Does this mean that, like Jesus we need to not eat or drink for 40 days?? I don't believe so. It is, however, possible that God is calling me to give up some things that are good for His Better. I will try to keep track of what God is speaking to me on this page. "Happy am I to have a hungry heart, and blessed am I to thirst," for "only You can satisfy..." I am truely lovesick for You my Lord.

BUSY!!

I haven't been able to post in a long time because I have been so busy. Let's see what has happened since...LCA is 3-1! The SAINTS ARE 3-0!! It has been a pretty good month. We had some problems with our AC and our plumming, but we have some amazing friends who blessed us and we are set to go now. One day we will bless those who have blessed us so much. I pray that God blesses them as well, that they will reap the great things that they have sewed. Samson is doing well he is just as mischievous as always. We bought him dog food for the first time (we had been buying him puppy food). It was different for him. He did not like it at first but now he gobbles it up just like the other food. However, with all of this great stuff going on, we do have a problem. Janie had a cat, Otis, before we got married. When we moved into Cajun Village, we had to get rid of him. A nice little old lady took him in and took care of him. Unfortunately, this woman died recently. We now have a problem. We cannot keep both the dog and cat in the house at the same time, so we are forced to try to find someone who would like a cat. He is full grown, house trianed, declawed, and is a STRICTLY inside cat. If you leave the door open, he will not run outside. He is scared of it. He is a very Passive cat and loving. If any of you either want him or know someone who might, PLEASE let us know as soon as possible. We will not put him in the kennel but we need to fine a home for him.

28

Well, I had a birthday yesterday. I am actually 28...wow! Turning 28 caused me to think about my life as I approach 30. I thought about where I am and where I'm going, and about what has brought me here. On Sunday Pastor Jay said we should not be upset about the Disappointments in our lives because it usually means God has an Appointment for us. This caused me to think of some of the things that have happened in my life. I thought about several years ago, while I was in Florida visiting my parents for Christmas. While I was there, my car broke down and I was stuck there for about a month. When I returned, I was kind of in trouble for being gone for so long. To make op for this I went to an event in our cafe' at church. This was the night that I met my future wife. My disappointment, Car trouble, turned into God's appointment. Now I am SO thankful that things happened the way they did. I am now looking for disappointments so there will also be appointments in my life. I am so grateful that God brought us together.

One and One

Well, we played our first tackle football game last night. We played two halves, one each against two other schools. We won the first game, and lost the second. We learned alot. We hit and got hit. It really was a good experience for our guys, and our fans. Last year, playing flag, we had a game at the same location, and had about 7 fans at the game, this year we must have had close to 50 or so fans. Not bad for what was basically a scrimage in Baton Rouge. We have a lot to learn but we will get better with every game and practice. Congradulations to the boys for doing something that no other LCA team has ever done. GO CHALLENGERS!!

Down, Set, Hut!!!

Lafayette Christian Academy is changing from flag to tackle football this year. I am an assistant coach for the Varsity and the Head Coach for the J.V. I actually never played football in school, so I am learning just like the boys. We have two assistants that are REALLY helpful, Coach Lessard and Coach Rogers. Coach Rogers played on the offensive line at Grambling University and also played arena football, and had some invitations to try out for NFL teams. Needless to say he knows his stuff. We are thankful for him and Coach Lessard for all their help. We have our first game on Friday, the jamboree, in Plaqemine. We are trying to get ready. The helmets have not all come in. At this point we are just hoping that all of the equipment comes in on time. I think once we make the adjustment to playing tackle we will have a good team. One of our strengths will be the offensive line. Let's go Challengers!!!

WOO HOO!!!!

WOW!
We did Church in the Big House last night, and it went awesome. I was SO nervous. The worship was great. Desmond led, with the help of Dana, Megan, Trevor, Katelyn, and Jalen. They did such an awesome job leading us into worship. Then we had three of the graduating 8th graders speak. Kip, Lauren, and Megan did great, too. They each shared they're hearts. Jamie got up and did the offering and announcements. He did a great job too. When I finally got up to preach, it was easier because everyone up until then had done well, so there wasn't any pressure to save it, just keep the momentum going. I think we did. I talked about how in Ezekiel 47 he talked about a river flowing out from the temple. I talked about how I felt when I read this. The water, representing Jesus is running through us, the temple. How much do you let the river flow. I used water guns to illustrate and the youth loved it, or hated it depending on your perspective (or where you were sitting). To finish it off I dumped a bucket of what people thought was going to be water (it was FULL of confetti) on Lauren's dad. I knew he would be a good sport, and he was. He just laughed and brushed himself off. I think he still may have some confetti on his body today!! It was a smash Hit and most importantly, the congregation responded to the point of the message. That we need to let Jesus sweep us away and stop trying to control our own lives. We need to give in to what God wants for our lives. I think there were as many adults at the altar (if not more) than there were youth. I was very happy to see so many respond to God's call. To not think they were too old to respond to a youth message. It is one of the things I love the most about our church. The people don't care how the word comes, if it is from the Lord it can still speak to us.

I give all glory and honor to GOD!! With out His calming Peace and firm hand of guidance I would have never done so well. He is worthy to be praised. Thank you Lord!!
